National Organizations
| The two main organizations that represent
the interests of metal detectorists are the
Federation of Independent Detectorists (FID) and The
National Council for Metal Detecting. ( NCMD ) Please note:-- membership of these organizations includes the essential insurance needed by detectorists. |
The National Council for Metal Detecting
| The NCMD is a countrywide network of metal detecting clubs recognised by national and local government. Individual detectorists who are not members of a club can join as Associate members. Members are covered by Civil Liability insurance. The organisation exists to protect the interests of those engaged in the hobby of metal detecting. |
The Federation of Independent Detectorists
| The FID exists the promote the interests of individual detectorists |
| The Federation of Independent Detectorists aims to
promote the interests of individual metal detectorists, provide public
liability insurance, and liaise with other organizations at a national
